Mother’s Day Every Day
When you think of making your mother special do you wait until a certain designated day of the year? How about making her feel special right now?
When I think of my mother I think of the ways she made a difference for me as I was growing up as well as once grown. The first time I ever made tea, my mother was all the way across the country and long distance telephone charges were considered to be expensive. It seemed comical at the time when I called her over long distance to ask how to make tea!
It took me a long time to understand what my mother meant when she often said, “Pretty is as pretty does.” I now know she meant it doesn’t matter how one looks, how one behaves is whether she is actually pretty or not. We’ve all seen people who “seemed” beautiful on sight until we experienced their personalities or attitudes.
What are some memories you have of your mother? Did she have many sayings you remember? Were there many rules? What is a quote you have heard most of your life from your mother?
A fun idea to consider is every time you think of your mother when a special memory occurs, get her a small gift and send it to her right then. Don’t wait for mother’s day to make her feel special. Do it immediately so she can experience the frequency of your thoughts of her.
A “mother thought gift” doesn’t have to be costly. It can be as simple as writing a special note to her on some beautiful paper. Mothers just seem to love beauty, don’t they?
On Mother’s Day this year, give an extra special something that lights up your mother’s life.
